This is the screen shot for lab 8 in which color has to have its own balance and with the opacity turned in to 50% and you would have seen the differences in between each other. To also be able to paint with the brush tool. what I also did was use different colors.   In the options bar, leave Mode set to Normal. Set Opacity to 100%. Set Flow to 20%.When you set Flow to 20%, the darkness of the line
moves 20% closer to full opacity each time you overlap
lines.
